I don't want the subscriptions link to show up on my site's home page / front page, how do I configure this module to prevent this?

Put the nid of the front page into the Blocked nodes field.

Noob question: how do I know the nid of my front page...? (Doh, I feel so dumb!)

Try editing your front page, then you'll see the nid in the browser's address field.

(It's set somewhere under Settings.)
