Each item should have a daily rate (which may be less than 24 hours x hourly rate). Some items should be reservable for weekly rentals too, and a weekly rate may be less than 24 x 7 x hourly rate OR 7 x daily rate.

Sounds like a perfect job for a submodule!

Since this isn't an itch Denver Open Media has I can't justify spending time developing it, but I'd be glad to work with any developer who has the time to write this or with a station with $$ to determine what type of bounty they'd have to offer to find a developer capable of doing the work.

I'd also be interested in having more flexibility such as this... specifically, I'd like to be able to specify a daily rate with a minimum total price (equivalent to renting for X days), and then a discounted daily rate after Y days. Is this something that could be easily coded up? I probably have the skills but not much time.

@kreynen - you mentioned you'd be willing to work with any developer willing to code this up- I'm certainly willing and probably able, if you can just point me in the right direction.
