Description

Hi,

I have a few Views pages and I am trying to use Panels for the layouts of these pages. I am not 100% sure but I guess I need to do something with the selection rules and select a content type using "node:type". However "node: type" is not showing at all on the drop down menu...I think I need to do something else before I can see it but I still have no idea how after 2 days of messing around...I also want certain content type to be shown through Panel...

Can someone please help? Many many thanks!!

wouldn't the node: type be set in the view that you pull into the panel?

Hi VeryMisunderstood,

Thanks for replying. I was so confused that I think I did not ask the question correctly..but I also do not understand what your question is...

Here's what I want to do:

I have a content type "Story".
Right now, when I create a "story" page, I see a page of text, perhaps with some images etc.

I want to use Panels so that all Story pages are shown, they are shown through Panels. For example, let's say if I use two columns layout, all the content I mentioned above will go to the right column, and a list of other recent stories (genereted by views) will be shown on the left colum.

Let me explain it in another way: I am trying to tell Panel is

"When you see a page of content type 'Story', replace the default layout to Panel Two Columns, add all content from 'Story' to the right, and add xyz content to the left. Do this for all 'Story' content"

I hope I am making myself a little clearer this time.

Thanks again for your quick reply, Verymisunderstood =)

Oh I found a video tutorial here http://blip.tv/file/600413/. It tells us how to do exactly what I want (see video starting from frame 05:00) except he is not using the current version of Panels which is so different now...

From your other issue, you clearly figured it out. The answer is that you needed a node context present in order to get node specific selection rules to appear.
