Intel Quadcore Processor
6 GB Ram
unlimited bandwidth
Every day stats around 500 visitors daily on the portal with around 50 logged in members per day.
MySql crashes frequently due to getting overloaded with queries and it exhausts the Ram as well as swap space.
SoftLayer always suggested to do advance MySql Optimisation on the server. As they suggested this is the issue.
We tried using all kinds of caching drupal can offer from memcache to xcache
We even tried hiring a server management company Webbycart to do advance mysql optimisation
Could anyone help us with any solution to the same.

500 visitors?
If your dedicated server is crashing with only 500 visitors a day, you have serious trouble. Is that a typo? If not, something is very wrong with your setup.
