Error on installing 6.26 and 6.27 versions

I can install and use 6.25 wonderfully but when I install to either of the two latest versions I get the following message:
Parse error: parse error, unexpected '{' in /home/kappaphi/public_html/sites/all/modules/video/includes/apiclient.inc on line 49

Here's my site specs:
MySQL database 4.1.22
PHP 4.4.4
PHP memory limit 16M
PHP register globals Disabled
Unicode library PHP Mbstring Extension
Update notifications Enabled
Web server Apache/1.3.27 (Unix) (Red-Hat/Linux) mod_perl/1.26 PHP/4.4.4
