We just updated to version 2.3, and the editor has disappeared for all users EXCEPT the #1 super user. I have checked permissions and visibility settings (both are fine), and tried uninstalling and reinstalling.

What am I missing? Any other ideas on what to check?

Have you associated profiles with the other user roles?

Im having the same problem and I did associate profiles to other user's roles.

Is there anything else I have to take care about? I even gave "administer fckeditor" permission to other roles, but none of them have access to the editor.

What could be happenning?

I have no idea. I you can provide steps to reproduce the problem, starting from a clean Drupal installation, I can try to find the cause.

Ditto, me.
I just upgraded to the newest dev version and FCKeditor went away. I can't even access the "body" of the content. i'ts just not there. I turned off FCKeditor in Modules and can see "body" but turning it back on-nada.

Are there javascript errors? Are the rights set up right?

conniec’s picture

no javascript errors and all rights are set up. This was an upgrade. Everything worked before I upgraded.

subscribing, having similar issues with select users (with equal rights) not getting the fckeditor (tested on same machine/browser)..

@arski: Is it possible for you to give me access to one of those users and access to another user with administrative access so I can check roles and permissions?
Are you using Drupal 5 or 6.

Using D5.

I'm sorry I'm afraid not, we're experiencing this problem on a live site and these are real user accounts.. Having trouble reproducing the bug myself.. but when a person tells me he tried 2 accounts on the same machine/browser and it didn't work for first and worked for the other it's just weird.. is there any chance that there's some user-related cookie or something being saved somehwere?

I can assure you that both these users have exactly the same roles and as far as I know there are no user-dependant permissions for FCK are there?

Thanks,
Martin

FCKeditor does not use any special cookies. Have you checked if users have entered their own preferences for FCKeditor? When allowed in the FCKeditor profile, users can alter some settings themselves in their user profile.
