Hi there,
I run a website called www.skinfreak.co.uk which is the offical site for a rock band. Currently it is built in Joomla 1.5, but over the past few months I have been increasingly worried about how it is hanging together. Currently, I am running J!1.5 with phpBB3 for forums tied to the CMS with JFusion. I am using Virtuemart for the web store. The issues are down to incompaabilities with some of my modules and virtumart whcich has led me to create a copy of the website in a subdirectory just to get the web shop working right - which is a pain! User need spearte logins and the JFusion bridge is not as seemless as I would like.
The main requirements of the site are to provide a forum for the band, with a discography and tour information. Browsing www.ericclapton.com I was very impressed with what Drupal could do. Here's the list of what I need / currently offer:
Forum (including a "discuss this in the forum" link for news)
Web store offering downloadable products (mp3s in this case)
Events listings
Blog for news
Community contributed stories and information (comments)
Twitter / Facebook intergration
Music jukebox player
WYSIWYG editor for non-techie admins.
I think that this can all be accomplished with Drupal, but bleieve this is the case for Drupal 5 only? Am I on the right track? Can anyone recommend a solid music based website featuring all the above for comparison (Eric Clapton doesn't have forums! But is Drupal 5 based...).
Thanks!
John

You don't want to use Drupal 5.x you want to use Drupal 6.x. Drupal 5 will be unsupported when D7 is released and that isn't all that far away. relatively speaking.
I see nothing that you ask for that can't be done with D6.
Forum = part of core
Store = ubercart
Events = cck, date, calendar and views
Blog = part of core, though I would use CCK.module and create a news content type
community contribution (comments) = part of core
twitter/facebook integration = there are modules for this but how far you get depends on the level of integration sought
WYSIWYG - wysiwyg api
other moduels you will want to look into
imageapi.module
imagefield.module
filefield.module
swftools.module
do a google search with the keywords : drupal sony music artists
There are a multidude of artists sites built on drupal inclulding ozzy osbourne, pink, static X and more ....
_
And just recently eric clapton joined the group!
Eric Clapton + the Whitehouse -- drupal will soon rule the world!

yea saw that in the OP's topic starter.
Instead of "Layla" insert "Drupal" in the song for a laugh or 3
Could be the theme song for new user frustration : )
