New "CVS Instructions" on all projects - checkout directory question

Hi Guys

I have a quick question on the CVS instructions that recently appeared. Take for example:

http://drupal.org/node/48774/cvs-instructions/DRUPAL-6--2

According to the instructions you must create a directory called vote_up_down-DRUPAL-6--2. Is there a reason why they recommend this type of layout? AFAIK the directory name must be the same as the module.info file - and by following this example your module won't pick up

What's the best practise for this - softlinks?
