Hi All,

I have a website which was developed by some ASP.net developer few years back, but now that developer is not with our team, and i was planning to re-write to code, did some search on net and found that dupal can be used here and i can get better/faster support from folks here.

Aim:- Create a simple website, a user visits the website he can explore the whole website (obviously without user privileges) then suppose he likes a DVD, so in that very pane he'll see a button to sign-in. Now the user will be taken to the page where he can sign-up as well as sign-in, he selects a DVD, add to cart, and lets say he selects 10 DVDs, now once he says checkout, he is shown options to purchase membership, where i am planning to put membership plans like X dollar for 10 DVDs in a month. There is no purchasing in the website, its strictly a DVD rental store.

i was thinking that this is basic ubercart funcionality , but i am afraid its not.

Problem:- I installed Drupal 6x/Ecommerce component/and ubercart. What i wanted to achive is not possible with these three things, its making payments at a product level or product kits level, but what i need is Memberhsip based DVD renting capability.

Any modules or suggestions / links for reference to help me develope this stuff will be a great help for me.

Ubercart and Ecommerce are separate... You should one or the other.

Ubercart can allow subscriptions to roles, but you'll need 'purchasing in the website'.

thanks for the answer, is there any module out for drupal to suffice my work, or at;east to get started.

You would need a system where membership costs X dollars, but rentals are zero dollars. Your trick will be in limiting the number of items that are rented based on the membership cost, and then tracking the return dates of the rentals as well.

You should look at the module called MERCI. This is designed for lending television production equipment to a membership. I don't know what state or version it is in but it might be helpful.

Last few days i have been trying merci module with drpal, and guess it does not solve even part of my problem.

Anyone have anymore suggestion for problem, thanks in advance.

Once he check's out, the DB updated to show that out of this alloted 10 DVD, he is taken 1 in this month, and now he can take only 9 more this month.
