Is it supposed to be possible to show waypoint markers from a GPX or KML file in the map?

No, markers are not supported at this time.

Any update on the ability to support waypoint markers and POIs? Possible support the import of Mapsource GPX files which have both the tracklog and POI?

Sorry, but this isn't high on my list of priorities.

Couple of approaches spring to mind:

1.Have any POIs in a GPX or other attachment added to a 'location' field on the node (currently the location of the node is set to the centre of a track).
2. Have any POIs added as individual nodes in their own right based on rules. This would be pretty tricky to configure.

Any other ideas?
