i upgraded from 4.6 to 4.7, did the whole update.php.
I've set to use the standard bluemarine template, and i'm getting this error on /node
causing a fatal and therefore a blank page.

[Sun May 14 00:03:27 2006] [error] [client 203.114.178.7] PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function format_name() in /u0/taniwha/wallace_html/brenda/themes/engines/phptemplate
/phptemplate.engine on line 275, referer: http://coffee.geek.nz/admin/themes

any hints on where to look to resolve this?

You need to make sure to replace themes/engines/phptemplate with the engine that comes in the 4.7 archive.

I am not the original poster, but was having the same problem. I can report that replacing themes/engines/phptemplate with the engine that came in the 4.7 archive solved the problem. Thank you.
