File uploaded to S3 but files database table still points to local file

If I create a node and attach a video [avi or flv] the video will get uploaded to Amazon S3 just fine, but if I look at the new content the file path to the movie clip still points to a locally hosted file. If I look in the actual files database table - same deal.

Same thing happens if I place flvs in my video import directory, they get uploaded to Amazon but the files database still points to a local file [and the content type created seems random - it's creating polls for videos!!]

Any idea what is going on here???
