User profiles

On my site I use views to generate a customized list of site members and fields that I collect using the core "Profile" module. I would like to add links to the publication pages for each user, but biblio fields aren't exposed to user-type views. I could probably get by with just a field that gives the author id number that corresponds to the user id number given as an argument. I have no idea how hard this would be to implement though, and perhaps there is an easier way to get what I want done.
