Right now when a user visits a forum topic he has a 'Post Reply' Button, and he also have a Post New Comment pane below the forum thread.
Is it possible to _not_ have the Comments pane display until after the 'Post Reply' button is clicked?
If not is it possible to change the 'Post new comment' text to 'Post new reply'? (The user may be confused between what is a comment and what is a reply)

michelleGo to the comment settings section of the node type edit and change it to show the comment form on a separate page.

Anonymous (not verified) commentedHi Michelle and thanks for getting back to me on this. I've tried setting the comment setting section to 'separate page' and then flushed all caches but it did not solve the issue.
As you can see there is no 'New Topic' button
Attached a screen shot showing the comment setting and the lack of a 'new Topic' button

michelleYour screenshot shows everything working as its supposed to. You set it to show on a separate page and, as you can see, it removed it from the page. There's not supposed to be a "New Topic" button there. You are on a topic page, so you have a "Post reply" button.
