During automatic creation of new user (from LJ user) userpic is downloaded correcty, but in table 'users' 'picture' column for new created user is empty.

Are you sure that these LJ users actually have userpics? There will only be a value for 'picture' if they have one on LJ.

The functionality works fine for me. I suspect that the users whose pictures aren't showing up just don't have LJ userpics. If this is not the case, feel free to reopen this bug.
