The new merci permissions module isn't really working the way I'd imagined it would. However it is a major usability improvement, so thanks :)

There's a couple of things that I don't think are quite by design:

  • Assigning permission to reserve an item, e.g. a camera gives the user "create camera" permission. If it's still working the old way, then surely only "edit own" and "delete own" permissions are needed. I certainly don't want the public to be able to create new equipment on the site.
  • You can still enable/disable permissions on admin/user/permissions which could remove the ability to reserve items from users. I'm not sure this is explained clearly enough - maybe some additional help text is needed? Or maybe a new "reserve item X" set of permissions could be introduced?

Cheers,
Stella

No need for a screenshot. Assigning permission to reserve an item, e.g. a camera gives the user "create camera" permission is a bug.

I don't think we are going to try to alter the default Drupal permission interface... or at least not as a high priority.

I wasn't suggesting altering the default Drupal permission interface - just maybe create a README.txt file containing useful information like this, or add help text to your custom permissions page.
