Link that counts new activity since last visit

Hey!

I would like to place a link on top of the site (for the logged in user) that says "New activity since last visit (X)", where X is is number counting new activity since last visit.
Is that easy to archive? I know it's possible in views, but I haven't been able to replicate this in this module.
