This is a cruel thing to do to anyone theming a site that uses this module. We shouldn't have to override the CSS from this module to make it fit in with the rest of the site or, in the case of dark themes, to make the module usable.

That was cruel and I apologize for it. Chalk it up to being green, and starting with Drupal 4.5 which was an entirely different beast than the platform today when it comes to themes and visuals.

I've just committed a change that removes all but two cases of color - red for new items, and a grey for the labels that are on the node display that are intended to fade out a little. If you know of commonly used CSS classes for these needs I'll be glad to put them in.
