I am trying to restrict coupon usage to a subset of products. When I create a coupon, under the "Applicable products" category, I select "Apply coupon to all products except those listed below". I proceed to enter the product names in the given text fields (The auto complete mechanism actually finishes filling out the text fields for me). When I go and add one of the products that is restricted for the coupon, and apply the coupon code, the coupon actually applies (which it shouldnt!). Perhaps I am overlooking an intermediary step somewhere?

Have you selected any other restrictions on the coupon? One thing that can trip you up is the "product class" selection, allowing all product classes here will override specific products - try selecting (none) in the product class selection field and see if that helps. This part of the admin interface does need some improvements but currently I have no time to work on this.
