Is there a list of file types supported? This module is a cool idea to greatly simplify the creation of large numbers of galleries based on folder hierarchies rather than the tedious creation of nodes.

Is there a list of the file types supported for thumbnail generation? I would like to build galleries of images, video, audio, microsoft documents, and PDF files. Are there settings to assign default thumbnails by file type and individual files when a thumbnail cannot be generated or an alternate image is desired?

Also does this module allow the creation of introductory text or a description for the gallery? Perhaps you store this info in the Drupal database or a particular file located in each folder?

753 'gif',
754 'bmp',
755 'flv',
756 'mov',
757 'wmv',
758 'asx',
759 'swf',
760 'pdf',

text creation is only partially with exif possible -> but very buggy, and is going to disappear in the next Drupal 7 version (which might be backported)
