Hi. Somewhere along the upgrade path, (not sure which version, I wasn't paying that much attention with all the updates.), the time it takes to load the video up with Shadowbox is about 35 seconds. At first it's just the WSOD, but if you wait it out, it will eventually load. This is pretty bad for me, as mine is primarily a video site that's designed with this module as the central workhorse, so instead of downgrading version by version, and trying to figure it out, I was hoping that someone (Aaron, this means you.) could figure it out. If you want to see what I'm talking about head to my site at http://CinemaSaville.com I'm sure it's this module, because just using Shadowbox for a video works instantaneously like it's supposed to. You are doing a phenomenal job with this thing, thanks again for all your great work.

aaron commentedwhen i visited now, it took about 3 seconds on the same site for one of your videos to display in the shadowbox. longer than usual, i grant, although it is an hd video loading (which generally takes longer anyway). not sure if you're still using emfield for that display. however, things work just fine w/ http://drupalmultimedia.org/ ). are you really using 6.x-1.9? or is this for 6.x-1.17?
opening the net tab in firebug, i see that you're trying to load a couple of non-existent files:
http://cinemasaville.com/sites/all/plugins/shadowboxlibraries/swfobject/...
http://cinemasaville.com/sites/cinemasaville.com/files/css/css_0477b7961...
http://cinemasaville.com/sites/cinemasaville.com/files/js/js_91640ec6eb1...
and one time, index.php after clicking the shadowbox took 6.83s. but the rest of the times seem reasonable for me. the video playback itself takes time to load, but it's streaming normally for me.
i'm using linux/firefox 3.5.

CinemaSaville commentedSorry, I got confused with the version, and it is 6.x-1.17. I am using emfield for all the video displays.
Not sure why the
http://cinemasaville.com/sites/all/plugins/shadowboxlibraries/swfobject/...
is trying to load. Why would it do that? And how could I clear that out.
I'm using Snow Leopard/firefox 3.5. Actually it takes the longest time loading in firefox than safari (which takes a while). Chrome is actually the quickest.
I'm glad to hear it only takes 3 seconds on your machine, as it's the user experience I'm concerned about. I don't want to lose them while they wait, as they may think it's not working. Is there anything else I can do to optimize load times on this? Thanks for the quick response, Aaron. I genuinely appreciate all the work you've put into this. Without your module, I would be doing so much painstaking work on each piece of content I post. (Less time to make funny movies.)

CinemaSaville commentedHi Aaron and company. I just wanted to follow up on this issue since this module's implementation is at the heart of my site, so I'd like to see if you can help me resolve this. I posted a couple of brief screencaptures that show the major lag time (over 35 seconds) before the video loads, as well as an implementation of shadowbox with the video sans emfield. This only takes 3 seconds to open even in HD. So there is clearly an issue here. You can see the screencaptures for yourself here- http://www.cinemasaville.com/shadowbox-emfield-test
The other issue of the missing files was resolved, as it turned out to be a Shadowbox.js error that was rectified, but didn't do anything to speed up the emfield/shadowbox combo.
I really hope you can help me work this out, otherwise I'm going to have to go back to manually coding this stuff, which while doable really slows me down. I can't tell you how much I love this module, but as an artist I really need to have the shadowbox implementation, so if you could take another look I'd super appreciate it. I'd do it myself, but I don't write php code for a living, I write comedy scripts, and trust me, that's the way you want it. All the best.
