I am having two problems. I have read a whole lot of threads all around here, but I just can't figure it out.
1) I want to change the default output directory. I read that I could go to the flashvideo settings, click on the content type, and then enter a value in 'output_directory', but that input doesn't seem to be there for me.
2) I want to change the default content type for files that are imported through ftp. Right now they are all being made into 'pages', but I want them to be made into a custom content type I have made. This apparently is on the settings page as well, but I cannot find it.
Can someone tell me specifically where these things are? Thank you.

attheshow commented1) If you're using filefield integration, you won't see the "output directory" option on the content type page. Try going to Content Management > Content Types > (YOUR CONTENT TYPE) Manage Fields > (YOUR FINISHED VIDEO FIELD) Configure > Path Settings > File Path
2) I would try setting a different video import directory for your new content type and then configuring that within the content type settings(/admin/settings/flashvideo/edit/[NAMEOFCONTENTTYPE]). Maybe make a directory called "CONTENTTYPE_video_imports" or something like that.

jaypanThanks for the suggestions, much appreciated - I managed to get them both working this way!
