Google Bot type functionality for copying content from other sites to a Drupal site.

Hello
I have a requirement for Google Bot type functionality for copying content from other sites (who are registered with us and given permission) to a Drupal site. Is there a cron based functionality in Drupal which can be modified for above mentioned purpose? Any suggestion how the content on remote site may be organized.

I am non-technical, and only exploring possibilities. Thanks.
