Preserve author information on import

Hi guys, handy module, I've used it to migrate content between different iterations of a website. One issue I've run in to is the fact that the cloned node's author details are overwritten with those of whoever is running the import process. It would be nice to have an option to preserve the author uid and name when importing. I understand that there are some obvious caveats with this but if it's well documented and not enabled by default I can't see the harm?
