Research on Drupal's static file

Hello folks!!
In order to improve drupal static files flow, i am researching on:

1. Normally, where do you placed your static files(etc img file, html file) in drupal folder beside drupal/misc?

If you can reply to this thread, that would really help us to develop a new module for easing the flow.
