Hi All,
We are trying to put up a pet lost/found site to help local pet shelters help owners who have lost/found pets. Drupal looks like a great relatively turn-key program that would do most of what we need done. The problem is that none of us are very technically literate when it comes to php/mysql etc. We have tried Joomla as a "one-click install" from our hosting package but aren't happy with what it appears to offer - however, the install was really simple :)
Following the instructions of the install video, I did created a database in php 4.2.1 (I thought even though the installation says MySQL 5 database on the reporting). The 4.1 schema was imported successfully. I then modified settings.php as described and even changed the baseline address to www.petalert.ca. When you now go to the site I get a non-graphical rendition of the login screen that does not look at all like the video rendition. When I try to login or create a new account it comes up with:
Index of /cgi-system with parent directory and what looks like directories for php.cgi and php5.cgi. with the creation dates and folder size. Please feel free to view this on the site.
I've probably missed something pretty simple and basic but am stuck in unknown territory. I couldn't find anything similar in the forums hence the cry for help.
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.
Best regards,
Ron Smith

Is drupal installed in a subdirectory? If so you should change the $base_url to point to the subdir.
If you are using dreamhost take a look at this node http://drupal.org/node/60139.
Hope it helps
Unfortunately NO
Hi,
It is indeed in the root directory. Seems there are some Dreamhost issues that I am trying to check out. Thanks for the response.
Dreamhost by any chance?
Ron, are you using Dreamhost as a host by any chance? I had this same problem with 4.7 installs, until I switched old/existing domains to PHP 5.1.2. It fixed the problem for me.
In the past, I've also had this happen due to messed up permissions on my themes folders.
Good luck!

Dreamhost - YES!
Hi Shane,
Thanks for the headsup. I'll try 5.1.2 and let you know.
CHeers!
It's ALIVE!
Shane,
Many thanks. Now I can go bang my head on something else :)
