We have a site that uses access rules to restrict user logins by email address patterns (%@example.com). It would be great if these patterns were applied during user import as well.

Either by flagging users that don't comply with any of the access rules during the test run or maybe even come up with some option in the import setting to create new access rules on the fly for imported users who don't comply with existing rules.

When I have the time I'll try to come up with a patch :-)

It has been nearly 10 years and it is unlikely that a patch will ever surface.

Also, I think enforcing constraints on user data is beyond the scope of this projects.
