I suggest either using libraries folder or bundling the third-party Plugin with the module.

mrfelton commentedThanks, but would it not be better to actually use the Libraries API module to handle this? I think it does it in a slightly more flexible way, allowing the lib to be placed in the module directory, or at sites/all/libraries or sites//libraries
