Maybe I have to install them both to get the difference, but I would like to understand, first...

The captcha module page says: "New Version, be careful when upgrade, now it needs the Textimage module", but I have installed captcha WITHOUT textimage and it works flawlessly...

Do I really need textimage?
Should I prefer textimage to captcha?

Sorry, I'm a bit confused... :-/

It got upgraded today and so the tarball is still the old version... Either download directly from the CVS repository or wait until tomorrow for the new version.

Thanks for your reply... but which module is going to be updated tomorrow, captcha or textimage?

Captcha... That's the link I gave you above. Hence the 'issue' you're having is that the new instructions say that the module now relies on having textimage installed when the version you were using didn't require it (the maintainer just updated his instructions too quickly!) What happens with modules is that when you update your latest release it shows on the CVS messages, but then Drupal runs a cron every night which automatically packages everything up ready for user download. Of course, this means that nothing you do during the day is available until this cron runs... Sometimes, this is a godsend when you've messed up something you've added ;o)

I have downloaded captcha-4.7.0 today, and is identical to the version I installed three days ago... the new version is still in the cvs...

I think I'll stick to the old 4.7 version, for now...

The new version of captcha that requires textimage is really good. Textimage allows one to add their own custom backgrounds, not just fonts.

Well worth a look.

it would be good if textimage would really work - doesn't generate images at all - not on Win32/Xapp, not in i32/RH3 not on a64/RH4 !!!
