I'm looking for new ways to create spaces for online discussions. On problem i often face is the "discussion displacement" that naturally occurs in most forum, as their numbers grow, more and more reply get off-topic. Thus my question is simple: is there any way to auto-promote recursiveley reply/comments to topics, given a certain number of 2nd-degree-reply. To make things clear, here is a visual:
THREAD A
-reply 1
-reply 2
-reply 3
*reply a to reply 3
*reply b to reply 3
*reply c to reply 3
*reply d to reply 3
-reply 4
Question is: how to make reply 3 automatically become a full-thread in the main forum, once it gets enough feedback (here 4 2nd degree replies) ? Is this currently possible with drupal ? If not, it would be very interesting to have such a recursive (works itself down through the hierachy) way to promote posts. A plus would also be a demotion system, which moves the whole thread to an archive forum - but I think I already saw this somwhere around here.
