After copying the supercron module to /sites/all/modules I get following error:
Parse error, syntax error, unexpected '{' in /../../../sites/all/modules/supercron/supercron.module on line 501

Hosting server is on php 4.4.9.
On my development server (php 5.2.9) everything works fine.
Does supercron require php5?

Yes; we should update the supercron.info file to reflect that indeed php5 is required
