Catagorised tutorial site

Hello i am trying to create a catagorised tutorial site, but i cannot workout howto do it.

Basically what i want is this:

parent catagory
-child catagory
-child catagory
-child catagory
-child catagory

To be displayed in the menu.

Then if you click on a child catagory it lists all content in the main area, with a title and description

is this possible?
