This is highly complementary with the Comment alter taxonomy. Not sure why these modules are separate.
Whether I am editing CCK or taxonomy is not important. The feature these two modules are enabling is modification of certain node properties upon comment submissions.

arhak commentedYou're welcome to try comment_driven module
which follows a very different approach and is intended to supports taxonomy, cck, as well as node title/body/publishing options/etc
Maintainers of comment_cck & comment_alter_taxonomy are very welcome to review/criticize/contribute (as well as co-maintain if desired)
Being the case that maintainers get interested, a migration path would be very nice to have.
Otherwise, please don't think about this new module as an offender.
It was developed without consulting existing module's maintainers due to its totally different approach.
It is not a merge, neither a rewrite of existing modules, just got started as a proof of concept and now seems to deserves its own project space (to which you are more than welcome).
