FSCache & Filestore2 CVS: getting files as plaintext

Description
I upgraded from Drupal 4.6 to 4.7. I upgraded filestore2 and fscache to cvs versions available on drupal.org and now files are sent as plaintext to some browsers. The behaviouir seems to depend on the following:
Browser: IE7 beta, IE6, Opera (8.5 and 9 beta), Firefox 1.5.0.3 and 2.0 alphas work.
If I enable sending of files through drupal engine, then Firefox 1.5.0.3 seems to get plaintext too, but Opera and IE sem to download fine. With Firefox 2.0 alphas (Bon Echo) it always works fine.
To sum up, behaviour is affected by the browser being used.
The behaviour occurs only when hotlinking, i. e. not downloading from within the site. Wen downloading from within the site, all seems to be fine.
