Am noob.
Having a nightmare getting a test server set up.
Tried WAMP2 : looks great, however has wrong PHP and MYSQL version (not compatible with Drupal6) and it appears that you can't downgrade the MYSQL version : have been trying.
Spent a long time and haven't even got to Drupal yet !
Can someone send me a link to a Windows Server installation that supports Drupal 6 : i.e. has the correct version of MYSQL/ PHP etc...
thanks !

Welcome!
Hi, welcome to the Drupal community.
Personally, I prefer WAMP over XAMPP and UniServer (I tried all three of them recently). If you install the previous version, WAMP 2.0h, you will get PHP 5.2.9-2 and MySQL 5.1.33 out-of-the-box. That combination works perfect for me. If needed, you can get a PHP upgrade (5.2.10 or 5.2.11) on the addons page (http://www.wampserver.com/en/addons_php.php). WAMP 2.0h is available for download on http://sourceforge.net/projects/wampserver/files/WampServer%202/WampServ....
By the way, where did you get the information about the required MySQL version? I have never experienced compatibility problems with MySQL and http://drupal.org/requirements just says "Drupal 6 supports MySQL 4.1 or higher".

I was using WAMP but forced to switch to XAMPP. How do I change version of mysql and php in XAMPP? This seem pretty much easy with WAMP but I can't seem to figure it out with XAMPP.
Thanks!
