pass cck field value(s) to views block as argument

can anyone please help how to pass a CCK field(select) value to a block(Views) as argument? i find this a bit confusing...

while its easy to pass taxonomy "terms" as a value to views argument... i think (just my understanding) Views treat cck field value differently...

any idea is very much appreciated...

i think i already solved this thread... if i remember it correctly it was content_taxonomy module that solved my issue...
