Will someone please provide some basic instructions how to properly compile the SWF from the tagcloud.fla in lut4rp's sandbox at http://drupalcode.org/viewvc/drupal/contributions/sandbox/lut4rp/cumulus...? I have tried everything... for some reason the SWF that compiles is just blank.

Apfel007 commentedHi Tony,
what means blank? I tried the fla, export it to swf and open it with trillux.. and the code is in there !?.. What do you tried to to.. ?
webavant commentedI opened the FLA, clicked "publish", and copied the SWF overwriting cumulus.swf. The cloud does not appear. I think that it does not get the flashvars. I can move the text field into the stage, but all I see is "Tag". Where did you obtain the FLA that you are using? Can you please attach a copy?
webavant commentedI really need to get this working. I'll just integrate WP-Cumulus into my theme if I have to. Doesn't anyone have the FLA that was used? Hopefully one of the developers will chime in on this at some point.
webavant commentedIs the module built using a modified FLA or directly copied from the original WP-Cumulus SWF? Which version of WP-Cumulus SWF was it copied from? Thanks.

lut4rp commented(I've been away a long time, but I'm trying to be back on track here. Meh, college.)
No, I've never modified the FLA from WP-Cumulus, the current stable Cumulus takes the FLA from WP-Cumulus 1.17, I think. Anyway, I am going to update (finally!) the module after taking a look at the latest WP version. Shouldn't take a long time.
webavant commentedWow, great! The only reason that I had wanted to modify the FLA was to embed a font. This will eliminate the need for me to modify the FLA considering that the current WP-Cumulus supports embedding an external font, or something to that effect. Can I paypal a small donation to express my appreciation?

lut4rp commentedThat's very kind of you, but thanks, I don't accept donations. If WP-Cumulus supports it, I'm positive we'll find a way to make it work in Drupal as well.
(PS: I'm online in #drupal right now)

webavant commentedAfpel007, if you have time, please share, briefly, your process in obtaining the FLA and publishing it to the SWF. I just opened both FLA versions I have found and clicked "publish". Is there something else I must do in addition?
Both FLA files I have tried are available here:
http://cvs.drupal.org/viewvc.py/drupal/contributions/sandbox/lut4rp/cumu...
and here: http://svn.wp-plugins.org/wp-cumulus/trunk/flash%20sources/

Apfel007 commentedHi Webavant,
I'm sorry - I don't remeber what I've done exactly ( open fla, made changes and export again.... I don't remeber in any hassle), it's long time ago ( it's not my daily business). I took a look but I couldn't find my fla.. :-(
I rember there was a community around the author of th wp plugin.. maybe search for that people..
Sorry

webavant commentedI realized what was wrong. Roy Tanck helped me out with this. (thank Roy) I followed the exact same steps I did before, only on Windows instead of Mac and it worked perfectly. For some reason the font wouldn't embed properly when publishing from Flash on a Mac. Roy said it had something to do with the font name in the Actionscript and that Mac is more picky about it requiring more specific naming. To quote Roy, "Usually it's a font thing. Mac just label fonts differently ('Arial Bold' instead of 'Arial' set to bold, that kind of thing). If you have a PC you can try that would probably work. The next version of Cumulus will probably use system fonts, so all of this won't be necessary anymore."
