For instance, I dont always want it giong to the node, sometimes I don't want it going anywhere or to a certain node, not the node where the image comes from.

chriscohen commentedThanks for bringing this up. We will certainly look to put in the ability to turn on and off the links on slides.
We won't be looking to make it possible to link slides to any location at this stage, because we're not convinced it is the right direction for the module.

bamakojeff commentedWe wanted this same thing - the ability to turn the links on and off for different slideshows. We saw the patch in the dev branch that turns them off completely, but we wanted to choose when they are turned on or off, regardless of whether it was a nodequeue slideshow or not. So here's a patch that puts a new "Image Links" item into the admin page so that when you create a slideshow you can turns the links on or off. (See the .png file for a screenshot.)
You'll need to add a new field to the fancy_slide table to save the value. So in your database of choice you'll need to run something like this. (This is for mysql - postgresql may need something slightly different.)
alter table fancy_slide add column make_link int unsigned not null default 1;Once you've done that, you can apply this patch and then clear your drupal cache. Then you can go through your slideshows and choose whether to make them with links or not. The default is "TRUE", to match the behavior right now. So you only need to make changes if you want to remove the links from the images.
Fancy Slide is a great module; thanks for making it available for us. :-)

chriscohen commentedWow, thanks for the patch! We'll take a look and if the patch is good to go, we could make a schema change in the next version to perform the database change.
I have also updated the title of the issue to more accurately reflect the changes being proposed here. Thanks again!

bamakojeff commentedMy pleasure; happy to help. Fancy Slide is a great module that has saved me a good deal of time and energy. So thanks for the 1000+ lines of code you all wrote. I'm glad my measly 20 lines can help. ;-)
