Hey everyone,

I've decided to start a NY Drupal Group for users and developers in the NYC Metropolitan Area. I'm still trying to figure out the structure, where and when the meetings will take place, etc. I'm also not really sure what the protocol is for starting a group, so any ideas and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also, I'd like to get a feel for the level of interest in the community for forming this kind of organization, so please don't hesitate to comment. Ideally, I'd like to have monthly meetings where someone will give talks on Drupal theme development, module development, user issues, etc. Hopefully this will also give rise to an annual NYC Drupal Con. I know a few of the guys at http://www.nyphp.org and I'm going to see if I can snag the meeting room where they meet, in the IBM building on Madison Ave once a month.

Surprisingly, I never noticed the community link on the top of the page. Is there a specific reason why all the groups are kept under the drupal domain?

Yeah, I saw the NYC group after I made that post, hence my own reply. I think that having the group on Drupals community would be well complimented well by making our own little autonomous niche, and would allow for a bit more freedom. Your thoughts?
