Hi,

I've only got one relationship type on my site, which makes the autocomplete widget for selecting a relationship unnecessary. How can I disable in favour of something like a selection list or checkbox.

Are you referring to the views filter? If so, perhaps you could un-expose it to not show the selection at all?
