i would like to do what i believe is described for path access. i wish to restrict certain url's from specific roles on my site. however path access did not seem to work as described. perhaps i am typing the links incorrectly, but i tried every way i could think of entering them with no luck. is there so other way to do this? the permissions ooption of "access content" is too broad to work with. please help. thanks!

Install this module:

http://drupal.org/project/content_access

and follow the instructions given in the module documentation. You can use module to control access(create,edit,view) for content type as well as each node.

not sure if i should do this, only because it wants me to "rebuild content permissions" and i don't know what that does and am skeptical about doing it as it can not be undone. would someone mind breaking down what this is and the possible risks i am taking by doing so? this is for a site that belongs to a friend and i wouldn't want to harm the site or his business...
