The google analytics module has a feature where the module is cached for performance - here is the description:

Cache tracking code file locally
If checked, the tracking code file is retrieved from Google Analytics and cached locally. It is updated daily from Google's servers to ensure updates to tracking code are reflected in the local copy. Do not activate this until after Google Analytics has confirmed your tracker!

Please add such a feature to improve performance for webmaster sites.

I always meant to do that, but decided to wait until someone requested it.

I committed the necessary changes which will be rolled into the dev release tonight. Please test it out for me on your site and if it works ok for you I'll create a new release with the changes.

I tested this feature further, made some additional changes and committed everything to version 1.3.

Thank you sir! I wish there was a notification feature within comments for drupal, but better late than never. :)
