Hello I need to switch to a different site and drupal seems like the thing, only problem is currently we need some way to manage 100+ rooms for booking with conference's and such. It would be great to allow different level of premission with it also any help on this would be great. The site also needs to have a forum section and also a good customizable contact management system.

You can get good forums by
You can get good forums by using the default forum module in drupal. For contact management, you can try the CiviCRM system, although it takes some work to set it up.
As for room booking, someone submitted a patch that did this stuff. I suggest you search for and contact user Torenware on drupal.org and see what its status is now. If you are willing to invest some money, he may even be able to do it as a custom module for you.
At least WEBFORM can do the job ?
I'd say give Drupal a try, and with the WEBFORM module installed. A very useful and can be set to be filled for anonymous users, and be emailed the results to several emails.
See a demo form:

I would go a different way
Actually, I think the module you should look at is the event.module, since obviously dates/times are going to be very important for your site. Also, probably combining this with a list (taxonomy) of all the various rooms would also allow you to see when a particular room is booked. Also, yes look at CiviCRM for contact management - there are also other modules such as invite and rsvp that could be useful for organizing bookings/events with their contacts. I think the big key to your needs with be the interface for doing the bookings. I would also highly suggest looking into views.module and cck.module - they are both in heavy development but supposedly both are very usable and both are near release status. Otherwise, I would definitely suggest contacting a drupal consultant and asking about building a custom module that works specifically to your needs.

Booking system
Hi Simon,
You can also check out our new online booking system Planyo. It will work for 100+ rooms without a problem and it has lots of advanced management features to allow cooperation between different moderators etc.
Our system also comes with a Drupal module but you can use it stand-alone as well (it's hosted on our site).
Best regards,
