Ubuntu 9.10

When I submitted the "Features" step of the Hostmaster Install Profile, I got Fatal out of memory error. Of course this is easily fixed by changing the limit in php.ini. But it feels like this could be caught earlier before the error.

I hope this is the right place to log this and in the right format

What was your existing memory_limit set to? I have never had to modify the defaults to get past this stage in the installer.

Sorry for the late reply. The default was set to only 16MB. I was on Ubuntu 9.04

16M is not enough to run any recent Drupal, especially Drupal 6.
