greetings from a Drupal Newbie!

1) I am trying to upgrade to the latest version, but my hosting says this....

"Click on Upgrade only if
- no files, languages, themes have been modified
- you haven't added mods to this installation of Drupal
Info: Your current installation will be backed up."

my CSS files and themes have been modified...... so now what???

2) It says that if you are a current drupal member/user on any "drupal" site, then you can login in just by using your current login information.

I notice that people are getting denied on my site and I too have been denied on the "drupal.org" site and had to create a new user id.

Can someone shed some light in these two topics for me .... PLEASE!!!!!

Thank you mucho!

Theme mods should be OK for you to update with.

BUT... there are some functional changes that may break some themes that worked with 4.6. You'll want the 4.7 version of them if available. I would leave Bluemarine (the default for Drupal) enabled just in case your custom themes are broken, so that you can fall back on that temporarily until you get the others working.

If you're using a contributed theme that has been updated to 4.7 you should be fine. If it's one YOU did, or one that hasn't been updated, there are some changes you may need to make. But otherwise, the "mods" part, they're talking about modules and such, not themes, I think.

Disable all your 4.6 user-contributed (non-core) modules, and then go and get the 4.7 versions of them. If one does not exist contact the maintainer of the module and ask if an update is forthcoming. You cannot use 4.6 modules with 4.7, and vice versa.

About issue 2... I have no idea on that one, as I do not use that feature.
