This post is just a reference to #654196: Merging dcl_importer with contact_importer so that people viewing the dcl issue queue know that work is being done to make these two modules one and can join in that discussion. Note that once this work is finished that support will end for the dcl_importer and that people should use the contact_importer module.

I'm going to update the project page for this module now to recommend users use contact_importer. Any time I'm going to focus on development will go towards improving that module now.
