I have recently installed DRUPAL4.7at
http://paratlane.net

As this is a community site, I have added various DRUPAL modules.
Currently there are not many visitors, however the site is loading
prettly slow even with a DSL connection.

Can someone check the loadingspeed and suggest what may be
causing the slowness. Can extra modules like Shoutbox add significantly
to the load time ?

Cheers

I checked out your site. Drupal works flawlessly fast on all of my sites. I think it has something to do with your webserver.

Additionally, here are some suggestions:

- Tone-down your site a bit. There is simply waaaay to much going on.
- Blend your AdSense Ads. Keeping it the default adsense colors makes it look "spammy"
- Stop advertising drupal... most visitors of your site probably have absolutely no interest at all what drives it. I love drupal as much as you do, but advertising it over and over will just confuse users.
- Needs to go: "ShoutBox" ...never was a good idea in the first place. That alien thing at the bottom? Also needs to go.
- Re-evalute your drupal content. The "who's new", "help", etc... all adding to the overall business of the site.

Just some suggestions.

Take a look at the above link and look at the recommendations at the bottom of the page.

Compare with http://www.websiteoptimization.com/services/analyze/wso.php?url=http://e... , which is an almost off the shelf drupal install and see what's different
