Hi Bowob,

I just arrived here, so I'm new to your module, but I must say, it's fairly odd how you run things over here. I don't think people are saying it explicitly, but it's just very peculiar, and I think that your way of operating makes people suspicious. I understand that you're sharing out of generosity, and I give you huge props for that, but I'm sure I can't be the only one noticing the oddness of your module and your modus operandus in general.

For one, you don't even entertain the idea of serving up your raw code for others to improve on. You seem to dismiss every suggestion that you move things away from your servers. The code you do offer is formatted to be as confusing as possible. And to top it all off, you don't implement any templating standards. Many people here would be happy to do the work for you if you let them, so it can't be solely a matter of your time, right?

Some of this secretive and confusing behavior is what us little guys have come to expect from large third-party companies, but not a regular individual contributor like yourself. In this community, it's not often that you run into people playing their cards as close as you are.

And it doesn't help that any times someone casually questions you or mildly ribs you about your methods of practice, you often close the thread without any explanation.

It's just very peculiar Bowob, and I'm sure you scare many people aware from you module by operating in the way that you do. And most people are on here to operate in the complete opposite way -- sharing information and working together. Plus, wouldn't you get more out of it, and be able to see your brainchild reach further, if you let others help you with it?

Anyhow, like I said: any offering is a great offering in this place, and you offer up a wonderful tool. I suppose you don't owe anyone an explanation, but like many others, I'm just confused. That's all.

Any chance you'd consider doing things differently? I bet the place would get a whole lot friendlier and active :)

Anyhow, all the best. Honestly.

haha just thought of something: Did you somehow get your hands on Facebook code?!?! Is that what gives with all the secrecy? :D

You have just summed up everything I've been thinking over the past few months. Bowob is awesome (I'm even a ChatPro user) and I don't have a single complaint against it... Except this. It would be so much better if the whole of the Drupal community could work on the module, rather than just one. Also, about the Facebook script. It has made me think... How can one person make such a robust and complex script alone, when there are hundreds of contributers to the chatroom.module project (for example) which is nowhere near as smooth as Bowob.

It is very fishy, but like I said, Im very happy with the service so until something goes wrong, I'll remain blissfully unaware of the inside details of how this thing is run.
