Symptom: Logging in requires you to enter correct details once and hit submit, after which you are returned to the log in page without being logged in. Submitting username and password a second time using the same log in details then logs you in successfully. Logging out does not appear affected (i.e. you only need to log out once).

I have seen forum posts and bug reports describing this in previous versions, but thought I should raise this again for the following reason;

I have been testing a Drupal 4.7 site on a staging server over the past week, making final tweaks before a production launch. Today I upgraded the site to 4.7.1 and the bug instantly appeared. This bug did not occur at any time previous to installing 4.7.1.

As an update to this, it is not that you are not logged in, you are just not redirected to another page.

Idiot factor strikes again. It was a rogue cookie. Removed that, problem solved.
