Hello,

I have a community based in SMF (Simple Machines Forum), and I'm thinking to move totally to Drupal for all the features it has, despite the forum module is obviously not as powerful as the SMF.

I would like to know if someone has done that and what was the result. Was it for better?

What about the password? Can people keep the same pwd they had in SMF? (I know you have to pass from SMF to PHPBB to Drupal)

Best bet is to test this on a test site using a backup of your existing site, including the database. I don't know how SMF or PHPBB store the passwords to answer the question in specifics.

Take a look at the Advanced Forum module (and additions) - it does a decent job of replicating phpBB. I have not move my Forum to Drupal yet, but am planning it.
